Week 49 Day 4 – Jesus Christ, Our Great High Priest

Before we can mediate God’s presence to others, we ourselves must first be reconciled to God. Jesus Christ is our great High Priest whose sacrifice secures this reconciliation once and for all. Unlike the priests of the Old Covenant, who entered an earthly sanctuary year after year, Jesus has passed through the heavens and entered the very presence of God with His own blood. His atoning work removes the barrier of sin, restores our fellowship with the Father, and makes possible the life of priestly service to which we are called. Our vocation rests entirely on His mediation; without His sacrifice, we would remain estranged and unable to stand before God at all.

Because Jesus is our High Priest, we do not serve to earn acceptance; we serve because we have already been accepted in Christ. The One who intercedes for us continually invites us to draw near to God with confidence, trusting His mercy and grace in our weakness. When our priestly calling feels overwhelming or when our failures discourage us, we remember that our ministry is an extension of His. He is the faithful Priest; we are those shaped and sustained by His ongoing intercession.
