And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.
– Joel 2:28-29
The Spirit’s outpouring at Pentecost signals that every follower of Christ is now called and empowered to participate in God’s mission. Speaking God’s word is no longer the domain of a select few; it is now the shared responsibility of the whole church. Through the Spirit, believers are equipped to bless the nations by declaring the gospel, building up one another, and embodying God’s purposes. When Christians outsource their witness to professionals, they risk forfeiting the reason why the Lord poured out His Spirit on them. But when they declare God’s word by the power of the Spirit, they fulfill God’s vision of a people who mediate His truth to the ends of the earth.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for pouring out Your Spirit on all Your people. Empower me to speak Your word with clarity, courage, and compassion. Use me to bring the truth to those around me. Amen.
Meditation
Where might the Spirit be prompting me to speak God’s word, whether through encouragement, truth-telling, or gospel witness, so that others may experience His blessing?
