If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.

– Collosians 3:1-3

To live out Christ begins not with striving or achieving, but with recognising a new spiritual reality. We have already died, and our life is now hidden with Christ in God. To live out Christ, therefore, is to draw from this hidden life. The world may only see our outer form, but our inner person is securely anchored in the resurrected life of Christ. Our spiritual lifestyle must therefore flow from this inner reality, not attempt to manufacture it.

Because our life is hidden with Christ in God, we are free from the exhausting pursuit of self-validation. The self that demanded recognition and control has died with Christ. In its place rises a new self shaped entirely by God’s grace. Living out Christ means that every thought, desire, and action is brought under the awareness of this hidden union. Our minds are to be set on the things above. We live on earth, but from heaven. The more we behold the Christ seated at the right hand of God, the more our earthly lives begin to reflect heavenly reality.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You that my life is hidden with You in God. Teach me to live from this reality each day. Let my thoughts, words, and actions flow from the life You have planted within me. Amen.

Meditation

In what ways do I still live as though my old self has not died with Christ?
