Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches
– Galatians 6:6
Accountability relationships are not one-way transactions; they are built on mutual generosity. After urging believers to restore and support one another, Paul reminds his readers that those who receive spiritual nourishment from the spiritually mature also have a responsibility to share “all good things” with them. The phrase points beyond gratitude to include tangible, material support. In the early church, as well as churches today, many who laboured in teaching and pastoral care relied on the generosity of the believers they served. To “share all good things” is to recognise that spiritual instruction and pastoral care are sacred labours that deserve practical partnership.
When believers speak truth to one another, bear each other’s burdens, and take personal responsibility before God, the natural outcome is joy and gratitude. Supporting pastors, mentors, or teachers is not a burden but a privilege. It is an expression of fellowship in the gospel. By sustaining those who nurture us spiritually, we participate in the very work of God’s kingdom. Teachers pour out wisdom, and learners respond with generosity; leaders give their time and care, and followers return encouragement and provision.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for the people who have poured Your Word into my life. Teach me to be generous toward them, not only with words of gratitude, but also with tangible support. Let my giving reflect the joy of partnership in Your gospel. Amen.
