Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.

In spiritual warfare, our own willpower and natural resilience will not suffice. We face enemies—Satan, sin, and the world—that no human effort can overcome. The strength we need comes from being “in the Lord,” that is, united with Christ by faith. His victory is our victory, His power is our power, and His life is our life. Success in spiritual warfare does not depend on our own abilities, but on the Lord’s strength. The church is not an army that can rely on its numbers, discipline, or human strategy for victory. The army of God relies solely on the power of God Himself.
This truth is both humbling and encouraging. It is humbling because it strips away self-reliance; we cannot fight in our own might. But it is encouraging because it assures us that God’s resources are available to us. The church as the army of God stands in unwavering confidence in Christ’s triumph at the cross and resurrection. Because of this, we can rest in the certain knowledge that victory over the spiritual forces of evil is guaranteed.
Prayer
Lord, teach me to be strong in You and not in myself. Remind me that Your strength is sufficient for every spiritual battle I face today. Help me to trust in Your victory rather than my own abilities. Amen.
