I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God…

The church is not merely an organisation; it is the household of God. Belonging to the church means belonging to God’s family, with all the intimacy, privilege, and responsibility that family entails. This reality shapes how we treat one another, how we worship together, and how we carry ourselves in the world. Our behaviour in the church flows from our shared identity as God’s sons and daughters, joined together under Christ.
If we lose sight of this family identity, church life becomes transactional. It will be reduced to a club, a service provider, or even a workplace. But when we see it as God’s household, relationships matter, holiness matters, and truth matters. We are called to live as members of God’s family, reflecting His character in our love for one another and our witness to the world.
Prayer
Father, thank You for calling me into Your household. Help me to live in Your family with love, humility, and faithfulness. Make my life a reflection of the spiritual family that I share with my brothers and sisters in Christ. Amen.
