Week 33 Day 5 – The divine romance

Many of us think of Christ in terms of roles and titles: He is Lord and we are His subjects; He is Master and we are servants; He is Creator and we are creatures; He is God and we are worshippers. All of these are true—and glorious. Yet Paul lifts the curtain on a reality that is even more intimate: the relationship between Christ and the Church is pictured as that of a husband and wife, in a bond of covenantal love.

It may feel bold—even presumptuous—to approach God in this way, but this is the truth: our Redeemer is also our Bridegroom. We are not merely His workers or citizens; we are His beloved Bride, cherished and pursued with unwavering affection. This is the divine romance—the eternal story of a God who binds Himself to His people in love, who delights in them, and who prepares them for a shared future of joy. To live in light of this is to see our obedience not as mere duty, but as the glad response of a Bride who knows she is deeply and faithfully loved.
