Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands.

When we think of people in positions of authority, it is typical to picture rulers who abuse their power—leaders who take advantage of others, enrich themselves, or use their position for personal gain. But Christ’s headship over the Church is of a completely different nature. He is not only our Head; He is also our Savior. His authority is inseparably linked with His saving work. The One who leads us is the very One who rescued us, paying the highest price for our freedom and life.
This truth makes Christ uniquely worthy of our submission. He has proven beyond all doubt that His authority is used for our good and not our harm. Every command He gives flows from His love, and every direction He sets leads toward our ultimate blessing. To resist His headship is to resist the One who gave His life to save us. Let us instead joyfully submit to Him, trusting that the One who is both our Head and our Savior will lead us faithfully all the way home.

Lord Jesus, You are my Head and my Savior. Thank You for rescuing me and leading me with perfect love. Help me to trust Your leadership and to submit to You with all my heart. Amen.
