In His conversation with the Samaritan woman, Jesus defines for her the very essence of worship. It’s not ultimately about physical places, traditions, or external rituals. Why? Because God is spirit. He is not confined to a temple or a mountain, nor accessed through mere physical acts. True worship must engage the human spirit, the deepest part of us that connects to God.
Worship in spirit involves an encounter between the eternal God and the part of us that is immaterial, God-breathed, and designed for communion with Him. Worship in truth means aligning that encounter with what God has revealed about Himself in Jesus Christ. Together, spirit and truth call us into a reality beyond physical appearances: not performance or routine, but authentic, spiritual engagement with the God who made us to know Him.
Prayer
Father, I want to worship You not just with words or habits, but with my spirit. Help me engage with You deeply, honestly, and reverently. Amen.
