For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Paul says we are God’s “workmanship,” a word that suggests careful design, artistry, and intention. When God saves us, He doesn’t just forgive us and leave us as we were. He remakes us. We are re-created in Christ Jesus for good works, not to earn salvation, but as the inevitable result of it. A saved life is a changed life. If we have truly received grace, that grace will begin to reshape how we think, how we love, how we live.
This doesn’t mean perfection overnight, but it does mean direction. There must be a real and growing tendency to walk in the good works God has prepared for us. We begin to desire what pleases God. We begin to turn away from what once enslaved us. The Christian life is not static; it bears fruit. To be God’s workmanship means that our lives should increasingly reflect the beauty and purpose of our Maker. The world should see in us a glimpse of what grace can do. If grace has saved us, it must also be shaping us.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for not only saving me, but also changing me. I want my life to show the reality of Your grace. Shape me each day into the person You’ve created me to be. Let the evidence of salvation be visible in how I live. Amen.
